Our Story

Down to Earth Media was born in 2020 out of a simple yet powerful idea. Everyone has a story to tell. In the midst of the pandemic, we recognised a growing need for individuals to express themselves and connect through the art of storytelling.

Harnessing over 20 years of media experience, we quickly became a go-to for those seeking to turn moments into stories, even in the most challenging times. Seeing individuals' confidence flourish and their messages inspire change, made us realise we were only just scratching the surface.

Since then, Down to Earth Media has continued to develop its workshops, services and resources while also building and instilling confidence into a new wave of visual media storytellers. We are here to inspire people to unlock their creative potential.

Meet Alex Price - Down to Earth Media’s Founder & Creative Director

With two decades of experience in the TV industry, Alex is a self-shooting Producer/Director. His journey in storytelling and filmmaking began while teaching abroad in New Zealand, where he discovered his passion for the craft whilst traveling and working in a school in Auckland.

Alex honed his skills at BBC Bristol from 2006 to 2017, progressing from a researcher to a Producer/Director & Edit Producer. Notably, he contributed to the success of the primetime BBC 1 show Countryfile, reaching peak audience figures of 9.8 million people. This was just one highlight among the numerous programs he worked on during his tenure that stood out.

During his time at the BBC, Alex was encouraged to pick up a camera as a researcher, a decision that shaped his career. He never looked back, gaining valuable experience, and becoming a skilled camera operator and drone operator.

Specialising in Factual entertainment, Documentaries, and Reality TV, Alex learned and developed how to bring stories to life! His expertise extends beyond technical skills; he developed an understanding of how to bring out the best in people, enabling them to showcase their true selves on camera and the art of storytelling.

Continuing to contribute to the television industry today, working with CH4, ITV, CH 5, Discovery Channel, CBBC and even Online content for YouTube. Alex, along with Down to Earth Media, aspires to go beyond developing TV shows, aiming to create impactful and engaging content further afield.
